Sponge Cake with Red and Blue Icing

You can turn a plain sponge cake into a perfect 4th of July cake ready to be served on your Independence Day party table. The best part about sponge cake is that it's so easy to make and tastes great. You can make the icing using only three ingredients in no time.

Simply make a regular, plain sponge cake and decorate it with red and blue cake icing. It's that simple.

1. Crack four eggs in a bowl. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and beat on medium speed until it's doubled in volume and appears creamy.

2. Add 1 cup all-purpose flour and one teaspoon vanilla extract. Gently mix until well combined.

3. Pour in a cake tin lined with parchment paper. Toss it on the countertop twice to remove air bubbles. Put it in the oven at 160°C for 30 minutes.

4. Let it cool while you prepare the icing.

Prepare the Icing

In a large bowl, add four egg whites and beat at medium-low speed until they are foamy. Add two teaspoons of lemon juice and whisk again.

While the beater is on, start adding powdered sugar slowly. You need to add at least 5 cups of sugar into the icing. Turn off the beater when you get a thick consistency.

Divide the icing into three parts in separate bowls. Mix three drops of red food color in one bowl, blue food color in the second, and leave one bowl as it is.

Pour the icing into different piping bags with tips and start decorating your cake. Make alternate rows of red and white icing until 2/3rd of the cake top is covered. Then, fill the remaining with blue icing.

Serve this perfect Independence Day cake on patriotic dessert plates.

American Flag Inside the Cake

How about we put the American flag inside a cake? This recipe is great for a 4th of July celebration. It's all white from the outside, and when you cut it, the red and blue colors appear and give the perfect look of an American flag.

Make a regular red velvet cake, a plain sponge cake, and a blue-colored cake. Sounds like a lot of work? Roughly! It's pretty simple. Just prepare the same batter and divide it into three different bowls. Put red and blue food colors separately and bake them.

Assemble the cake by placing a red velvet cake layer at the base. Next, put a layer of buttercream frosting on top of it.

Now add the sponge cake layer and put a layer of buttercream frosting on top of it too. Next, place another layer of red velvet cake on top and the buttercream frosting.

Now is the time to place your blue cake, and this step is a little tricky. Before placing it on, cut a circle out from the middle of its layer and fill that space with a layer of sponge cake and red velvet cake.

Cover the entire thing with buttercream frosting. The trick here is to leave the cake as it is from the outside so no one can tell it's a 4th of July Cake until they cut it.

Once cut, serve your American flag cake on our disposable plastic cake plates. We offer a wide range of elegant dinnerware for all your party needs. That includes plastic cake liftersdisposable cake stands, and platters so you can serve your cakes in the best way possible on this Independence day.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Patriotic Buttercream Frosting

Make chocolate cupcakes following any recipe you like and decorate them with buttercream frosting.

Prepare Buttercream Frosting

Beat 1 1/2 cups of butter for 8 minutes. Once it's light and fluffy, slowly add 5 cups of sifted icing sugar while the beater is still on. Once you get that perfect consistency, add two tablespoons of milk and incorporate it well.

Divide the frosting into three different bowls. Now put red color in one bowl and blue in the second. Finally, pour this frosting into three piping bags.

Now you can decorate the cupcakes in any way you want. For example, you can create firework decor, American flag decor, or simple red, white and blue flowers - they all look gorgeous.

Make these delicious cakes for independence day and give your guests a spirit of patriotism.
