Why wait for Valentine’s Day to surprise your partner? Instead, plan a romantic date night to show them how much you love and appreciate their presence in your life - they deserve it!

There is no better way to do this than by cooking something delicious. Sure, going out and getting them something they like is an option, but it’s always better to put effort into making your partner happy. So we thought it would be perfect if you made a heart-shaped pizza for your date night. It’s delicious, looks great, and sets the mood for a perfect romantic dinner - what else could you ask from a pizza?

Follow these guidelines to make a delicious heart-shaped pizza for your partner.

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • Bread flour (3 cups)
  • Active dry yeast (2 tsp)
  • Sugar (2 tbsp)
  • Salt (1 tsp)
  • Olive oil (1 tbsp)
  • Warm water (1 cup)

For toppings:

  • Boneless chicken cubes (500 grams)
  • Yogurt (4 tbsp)
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes
  • Capsicum
  • Mushrooms
  • Pizza sauce
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Black olives
  • Salt (1 tsp)
  • Pepper (1 tsp)
  • Cumin powder (½ tsp)

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 425° F. Cut the chicken into small cubes and marinate in yogurt, salt, pepper, and cumin powder. Leave it for 30 minutes.

Dissolve active yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for around 10 minutes. Next, add olive oil, salt, and bread flour. You can also add all-purpose flour here, but bread flour gives a better texture to the pizza. Remember you want to add the flour in three batches while whisking continuously.

You will notice it starts hardening, looking like pizza dough. Form a ball out of the dough, cover, and let it rest for one hour in a warm place.

While the dough is resting, prepare the toppings. Wash and slice onions, tomatoes, capsicum, and mushrooms in a bowl.

Saute the marinated chicken in oil for 5-8 minutes. Set aside. Shred mozzarella and cheddar cheese in separate bowls.

The dough has now risen perfectly. Divide it into two equal parts (this recipe will make two pizzas). Roll out the pizza dough and transfer it to a pizza tray. Cut a butter paper or wax paper into a heart shape and place it on the dough. Cut the dough following the wax paper using a knife. You should have a perfect heart shape.

Put all the toppings on the dough. Put pizza sauce, vegetables, chicken, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and black olives. Bake it for 12-15 minutes. Serve in heart-shaped plates.

If you want, you can add pepperoni to the pizza. Then, cut it into little hearts using a cookie cutter.

Set the Mood for a Romantic Date Night

A ‘romantic’ dinner calls for some preparations. You can’t eat your pizza just like that. Turn it into an experience with a little bit of effort. You need to set the mood for a memorable dinner night. It doesn’t mean you have to buy expensive items to decorate your home. A subtle yet romantic decor is enough to create an intimate setup.

Use Flowers

One of the first things that come to mind when we think of something romantic is flowers. Red roses have always been a symbol of intimacy and romance. They are a perfect choice for making a floral bouquet or wreath. Fresh roses make the most beautiful bracelets also. If you are thinking of going extra, you can consider that too.

If red roses are not your type, it’s alright. You can use any other flower you like - tulip, carnation, white rose, or peony.

Dried flowers have been so popular these days. You can put them in a vase to make a centerpiece for your table, and you will have a vintage effect.

Turn on Dim Lights

Dim lights and scented candles scream romantic. They are just what you need for an intimate dinner/date night. While dim lights give a subtle effect to the overall ambiance of your room, scented candles make you feel good. It’s like pleasing both visual and olfactory receptors. And, of course, the heart-shaped pizza will satisfy your taste buds too.

Use hanging lanterns or dim LED lights for the dim lighting effect. You can also consider using colored lights, but make sure you use the appropriate ones. Blue light, pink light, and soft yellow light are considered romantic.

Play Soft, Instrumental Music

You want to hear your partner and not the loud music. Play a soft, instrumental playlist in the background. Keep the volume low enough that you or your partner don’t have to raise their voice over the music.

Now picture this - dim lights, scented candles, soft music, pizza, you, and your partner - perfect!

Romantic Table Setup

You can’t ignore how your table looks. It should look elegant and beautiful. Put an elegant floral centerpiece on it. The best option would be dried lavender flowers in a vase. Light some candles alongside elegant dinnerware, and you are good to go.

There’s no need to set an elaborate tablescape using all the dinnerware you have. Only a couple of plates, cutlery, and glassware would do the thing. But, since we are talking about ‘shapes’ here, we have a suggestion for you. Get disposable eco plates and eco-friendly palm leaf plates from The Kaya Collections.

You can find all sorts of biodegradable tableware on their website that’s available in various shapes. Apart from compostable plates, there is a wide variety of other plasticware that you can get.

If you are thinking of something even more romantic, take this date to your bedroom. You will have to set and decorate your bed for that. It’s pretty simple. Just lay a tablecloth on the bed and spread some rose petals. You can also put artificial candle LED lights because you don’t want to make the mistake of using real candles.

You can also plan a movie night together. But sitting on your couch watching a movie sounds too basic. Make it more interesting by setting up a mini tent in your bedroom. You will need your partner to help you in the process, making it even better.
